Extension of Individual Filing Date
The IRS announced they are extending the filing date of 2020 Individual Income Tax returns and payment of tax due until May 17, 2021. Georgia announced late Thursday March 18th that they will be following Federal extended filing date as well.
The additional 30 days is only for filing and payment of 2020 Individual Income Tax Returns. Individual 2021 first quarter estimated tax payments are still due on April 15, 2021 for both Federal and Georgia.
We urge all individual taxpayers to continue submitting their tax documents as soon as possible, especially if you pay quarterly tax payments.
The extended filing date does not apply to any other returns with a filing date of April 15, 2021, C Corporations and Fiduciary (trust and estate) Returns.
